we invite your creativity…

… and, your input is critical to us. You are invited to participate in shaping a new conceptual design for the 1818 Cornwall site. Help us create a sustainable development that reflects the values of the community and welcomes residents and visitors to Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood.

Site History

1818 Cornwall is located at the corner of Cornwall Avenue and Cypress Street, at the base of the Burrard Bridge, between Seaforth Peace Park and Henry Hudson Elementary School. The building originally operated as a Coca Cola bottling plant and was converted into an office building in the early 1980s.

Site Status

The building is nearing the end of its life-cycle and doesn’t meet today’s energy efficiency or sustainability standards. Re-investment in the building to extend its life for the longer term is not an economically viable solution..

As a gateway to the Kitsilano community, the new project at 1818 Cornwall should be green in character and function, and should announce the entrance to one of Canada’s most sustainably-minded communities. This key location deserves a landmark building that will embody the values of the local neighbourhood and welcome residents and visitors alike.

17) City rezoning process and continued follow-up with community groups and stakeholders

The intent of this public process is to seek the community’s input into the use and form of the proposed project, then to submit a rezoning application for the 1818 Cornwall site that will permit a new development. Our objective is to develop a concept plan that will achieve the high standards mutually held by the local community and property owner, and create a landmark at this gateway location to Kitsilano.

We are committed to develop and build green. It is our intention to create a development that performs above conventional building standards; a building that will have a reduced impact on our environment. Any development on this site will meet or exceed LEED Gold standards.

We believe in an integrated and responsible approach to development, in which all parties are involved in the decision making process. Currently, there is no redevelopment plan for the property. We hope you will join the team to discuss the future of the site, share your ideas and explore this unique opportunity with us.

Public Consultation

We will be holding a series of Open Houses and Workshops to gather ideas and feedback from the community. Display materials will be posted here after each Open House, along with video footage and pictures. Please go to ask us to submit questions or comments
